Liddon, Henry Parry

Liddon, Henry Parry
   Theologian and Historian.
Liddon was born in London, and was educated at the University of Oxford. A committed high churchman, he became a Canon of St Paul’s Cathedral where he was known as one of the most powerful preachers of his day. He was conservative in his theology, as was illustrated in his Bampton lectures on The Divinity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and he was distressed by the publication of Lux Mundi, edited by fellow high churchman Charles gore. Today he is mainly remembered for his monumental fourvolume biography of the Tractarian E.B. Pusey.
